      Biography

      About Joanne Bergmann

My husband Artie and I are lifelong residents of Paramus. We are the parents of three children, all graduates of the Paramus Public Schools. We are also the grandparents of five grandchildren. Two of our grandsons graduated from Paramus High School, and one granddaughter is currently attending East Brook Middle School. In my professional life, I joined what would become a publicly traded finance company as its legal department manager. Eventually, I became Vice President of the Legal Department, managing an attorney network across the country and overseeing litigation matters for the firm. I have been a long-term trustee of the Paramus Board of Education serving four years as its president. During my tenure on the board, I was the proud recipient of the prestigious Archie F. Hay Award and honored by Bergen County School Boards as “Board Member of the Year.” I have also volunteered my time and served on various school-related and civic organizations including the Paramus Community Alliance that is dedicated to the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse among our youth and community; Stigma Free, a community effort to promote awareness of mental health issues with the goal of taking the stigma out of mental illness; and Operation Goody Bag, a youth-based organization that provides “goody bags” filled with treats and positive messages to our servicemen and women along with first responders. As a board trustee, I take great pride in my continued support of the many educational programs and activities that inspire our children to focus on positive involvement and educational growth.
