Meetings, News and Items of Interest for Today:

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  an Auvi-Q device was found and is available for pick-up in the Nurse’s office for anyone who can identify the device and who can tell where the device was lost as well as when it was lost.

Attention students regarding the Chromebooks :   students are reminded to please keep your gmail account open during the day.  You will receive mail regarding a wide variety of topics including ID cards, office appointments and guidance appointments.  Again, please keep your gmail account open on your new Chromebooks. 

Any student who needs to purchase a lock for their hallway locker or for their gym locker may do so by coming to room 417.  A wide assortment of locks is available for purchase for only five dollars.

  PHS is going Green!  Come out and join the H.O.P.E. Club by attending the group’s first meeting of the school year.  The meeting will take place today in room 907 immediately after school.  Join and make a difference in our world!

Attention all students interested in joining the PHS Jazz Band :  there will be a short, informational meeting after school today in the Band Room (502).  See Mr. Gizzi if you have any questions. 

Attention all students:  the club, Model U.N., is having its first general meeting today in room 218 after school.  All interested parties who want to join Model U.N. are welcome to attend.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. David. 


Future Meetings and Events:

Attention 9 th grade students!  Anyone interested in serving as a leader of peers through the Student Government or as a class office should plan on attending a very important information meeting either on Tuesday, October 26 th in room 803 at 2:45PM or on Wednesday, October 27 th , in room 803 at 7:25AM.  Information on how you can run for office and get involved in PHS will be presented.  If you are really interested in this opportunity, you must attend one or the other of these two meetings. 

Relay-for-Life will have its first committee meeting on Wednesday, September 27 th , from 6 to 7PM in the high school cafeteria.  Please contact relayforlifeofparaus@gmail.com if you have any questions. 

More from the Counseling Office: 

  • College visits for Seniors and Juniors begin on Monday, October 2 nd .  The list of schools and the dates and times for the visits by the representatives are all posted on Naviance.  Students must register and print-out a confirmation page to be used as a pass for any session you wish to attend.  College representative visits will be held in the College and Career Center, room 419, unless otherwise posted. 
  • Attention Juniors and Sophomores :  the PSAT will be administered to all students in those grades on Wednesday, October 11 th .  All costs are assumed by the Board of Education, so all may participate.  Taking the PSAT both years, by the way, provides the student with greater opportunities to prepare for higher education of any kind.  Additional information will be posted in the near future. 


Sports for Today: (Weather and conditions permitting):

Girls’ Varsity tennis has matches against Westwood High School, away at 4PM.


Sports for Saturday:  (Weather and conditions permitting):

Co-ed Cross-Country will run in the Thompson Park Invitational in Jamesburg, NJ beginning at 9AM.

The Varsity football team has an away game at 1PM against Tenafly High School.

The 9 th grade football team has a home game against Hawthorne High School at 9:30AM.

Boys’ soccer plays Pascack Valley High School:  Varsity, home; JV, away and ninth grade at home; all matches begin at 11AM.

The Varsity Volleyball team will compete in the Clarkstown South Tournament in West Nyack, NY, beginning at 8AM.
